At the Mall

Nothing more to do...really looking for a movie theatre...an afternoon at the mall. It's the mall in Brandon, Fla which I have never been to. After looking for a theatre, of which there wasn't one, I decided to walk from one end to the other. It's OK exercise and I have nothing better to do. Being in a mall alone, can be an invisible experience. You can just walk and never make eye contact with anyone and no one is even aware of you. The people may need to go around you, walk beside you for a bit, or follow you till they get where they are going, but they never look at you and you never look at them. If someone makes eye contact, you can look away quickly and they will do the same.

Then someone in one of those units hands you some cream in a little plastic cup. You look at the drop of cream and then at the person who handed it to you. Then the eyes never look away. You are drawn into the web in a moment's notice. The eyes are black and they never release your eyes, there's not even a blink to give you a seconds rest. And the face is close and towers above you and it's like you can't look away. The young man speaks in broken English and it's hard to understand all the words. Hearing in a mall is hard because of a hearing defect that causes you not to be able to hear well when there is other noises, especially the echo sounds in a mall. He is telling you about the Dead Sea and the miracles that happen there. He is telling you about the minerals that are the catalyst for the miracles. Before you know it, because of the outrageous deal he is proposing, you have spend money. But he is not satisfied. Then he moves in to tell you about another product that will make you look beautiful, removing the circles caused by tiredness and the puffiness caused by something or other. Another unbelievable deal! Now you've spend much more money than intended. As a matter of fact, you were just walking through the mall because you had nothing better to do.

That's the way....don't you think? Life turns on a dime whether you're ready of not and it was just a walk in a mall.
